Christmas Morning Part 2

Another Christmas post.  In April.  Ack!

These are photos from the second part of our Christmas morning.  Santa visited Grandmom and Grandad's house and was so good to my babies!

Love all of these photos and memories with their Grandparents..

It was a dinosaur and princess castle kind of Christmas ....

so much fun.

Like always, the adults had a fun Christmas too...

....but I still wonder what we ever did on Christmas before Walt and Juliet!

It was a full and fun day that took a week to recover from ; )

Thank you Mom and Dad for creating such a special time for our family.  It was a beautiful Christmas!

A short video clip for my memory : )

Up next..... New Years Weekend!

Christmas Morning Part 1

I'm not sure that there's anything more magical than babies on Christmas morning!

Troy and I were also like two children.....  crazy with excitement.... we couldn't wait to see the look on their faces.

On the way to the great room, we stopped in the kitchen to see if Santa had enjoyed his cookies.  It was the first year that Walt seemed to understand that Santa had possibly been here.  He gasped when he saw the empty plate.  Troy captured it on video and I think I've watched it twenty times.

And following that moment was a morning of magic for two little ones.... and their mommy and daddy!  I could have stayed in these moments forever....

Baby's First Christmas!

I'm desperately clinging to these years of  innocence and magic.  The years when checking to see if the reindeer have eaten their carrots, is as exciting as opening a package....the years when Slinky Dog becomes the favorite toy of the morning and Mommy and Daddy share a quick wink....  as they've just learned that this is the one.  The one that will be lugged to the grocery store, the park, appointments, and the Mexican restaurant for the next month.  And how sweet.... how easy....the simplicity of this ....one.

Clinging to the years when a soft stuffed toy, or a new baby doll brings giggles and smiles...

.....the years when everything stops....time seems to freeze.  Because in their little minds...nothing else matters.  Or our minds too, for that matter.  In that moment, there's nothing more important than baby dolls, dragons and dinosaurs....and etching those moments spent under a Christmas tree into our hearts.

I'm cherishing these years with everything in me.  The years when making magic is easy...simple.. carefree.

There is such a balance when making memories.  I'm determined to live in the moment, but also dedicated to capturing a glimpse of it for our future. Being mindful of both is tricky.

But at the end of the day, I'm always so thankful for the images we've captured...

Images that we'll have forever.

I have fond memories of Christmas as a child.  They were a magical time, to say the least.  But the toys aren't what stuck..  not what I remember.  More than any toy or surprise, I remember a feeling.  And not just feelings of excitement, but of significance.  Of intense meaning.  Though I was surrounded my crazy amounts of toys and fun, I always remember Christmas morning feeling like a precious and sacred time.

A time of great reverence.

It's what I hope sticks for these sweet babies too.

That when these magical days reach their end....   when they no longer rush to see if Santa ate his cookies, or filled their stocking...

...when a Slinky Dog or a stuffed Minnie Mouse no longer become "the one," on Christmas morning...

I hope they still feel .....that feeling.

.....the feelings of joy, holiness and sanctity.

Feelings that can only be found through knowing the true reason for the season.

A few video clips for our memories!
