January Milestones

January and blogging seem to have gotten away from me.  But finally, I have uploaded some photos from the month!

On January 2nd, Walt turned 18 months.

He had his first dental check up....

...and was the sweetest little patient ever.

I melted when I saw the sign that the staff made for him.

Such a big boy!

He also had his 18 month check up, where he remains off the charts for height!

18 months brought another huge milestone.

We decided that it would probably be best for him to give up his pacifier.  I knew the longer we waited, the harder it would be.

One of us did beautifully.......  and the other one cried for days.

I grieved the paci so much!  I know it sounds silly..... it is silly.  Maybe it has something to do with my pregnant, emotional, hormonal heart, but it was so hard for this Mommy to see her baby without his paci.

He on the other hand, did so well.  I assumed the process would take weeks (he loved his paci!), but I took it away one morning, and that was that.  It took him longer to fall asleep during his first nap without it ...

; )

...but he did fine that night at bedtime, and the paci was officially gone in one day.

I didn't know it at the time, but these were his last pictures with the pacifer...

....this was the day before I took it away  : (

In my eyes, taking away his paci made him grow up immediately (the reason for all my tears!).   Everyone said that it was my imagination, and maybe it was, but to me he went from my baby to a toddler overnight.  A couple of days after giving it up, I happened to take his picture playing in the exact same spot as pictured above..

what a difference two days and no paci can make : (

Some other January memories....

....the weather was so nice!

While friends and family were texting pictures of the beautiful snow back home, we were in shorts and having lunch at the park...

Spending all of January outdoors was a treat.

We took Walt to an alligator farm.....

We spent an afternoon at the boardwalk.  We had lunch, let Walt ride the train, watched the boats come and go, and fed the seagulls....

And January (like every month), included our weekly trips to the zoo, the children's museum...

.....and story time at the library.

And here is a belly pic from January....

Baby check ups are quite frequent now.  Troy has been at a different hospital this month, and had to miss the last couple of check ups.  But my little chaperon does well and knows the drill....weigh, labs, get on bed for belly check.

;)

And just a few random January cell phone photos that I can't seem to delete.  They each have a story (like that time Daddy gave Walt a bath, and filled the water so high, that only his little head poked out!)...  and I want to remember them. :)

February pics coming soon!

Thanks for checking it on us.

Love,

Kristin

A New Year

New Year's Eve/Day is my least favorite holiday of the year.  It's hard to say goodbye to Christmas and to close another year.  I'm always so in love with life, that I never want to say goodbye to the year we've had.  I tend to be blah on NYE.

But this NYE felt different.  As we snacked on our party food, and counted down the new year, I felt very content.  I watched as my baby danced around with his noise maker.... and couldn't help but to think of all that 2015 had brought us....

...and of all that 2016 has yet to bring.

And that kiss from Troy at midnight didn't feel bittersweet like it normally does.  I wasn't sad to kiss away 2015.  Only proud to think of all that we've been through together over the year...  and all that is yet to come.

We decided to say goodbye/hello to the year with a road trip to Dallas!

We have a strong love for the Gaylord properties, and have always wanted to visit the Gaylord Texan.

It was the final weekend for the Christmas festivities, and a fun way to say goodbye to the holidays.

The resort was beautiful to say the least!

Walt was so cute in the hotel room.  He loved playing on the bed, and running in and out from the balcony..

He's like his Momma....  he appreciates a room with a view. ; )

That evening we went to a fun Mexican restaurant on property...

.....and walked the resort to see all of the lights.

We also visited ICE!

I loved Walt in his parka!

This was our first visit to ICE, and I soon found out why they give everyone an insulated coat.  I could not believe how cold it was.  You could see your breath in the air, and almost immediately your fingers and face went numb!

But the sculptured ice was so neat....

Walt loved running through the tunnels of ice...

But our favorite by far was the nativity at the end.  It was so beautiful!!

Fun memories made at ICE!

And for our own memory (I like to remember even the unplanned memories!).... I have to record that right before we put Walt in his bed for the night... he puked right in the middle of ours.  Everywhere!  That was definitely a first Gaylord experience for us.  We couldn't help but to laugh at how much different our evenings at Gaylord now look ; )

The next day we spent some time in the resort....

....had a nice lunch in the atrium, and then headed back to Houston.

I've decided that a weekend getaway is the perfect way to end and begin the year.

Hope that your family is enjoying 2016!

Love,

Kristin
