Walt's Farm Party

This is possibly one of my favorite post to date.  Such sweet memories!

A couple of weeks ago, our Walt turned 3.  We celebrated him (and his farm animal loving heart!),  with a barnyard bash, that made this momma melt.

The day before the party, it poured like I haven't seen it pour all year.  Flooding rain!  But the next day, we awoke to the most beautiful summer day of the season.  Sunny and 75 during party time (in June!?), and simply perfect for a farm party.

Walt talked about his farm party for weeks leading up to the day.  He watched it all come together ("oh momma...thank you.....thank you for getting that for my farm party..") and knew it was an exciting day.

He also knew that the backyard full of little red barns, gingham and burlap... wasn't all to be had.  He knew something big was coming.

And when it arrived..... my heart melted for him.

He sat at the top of the driveway with Troy and Juliet in absolute awe.....

....as a horse trailer full of farm animals pulled up next to him.

When the trailer parked, we heard a rooster let out the loudest crow you've ever heard!  It was a special moment for all of us....

One by one they unloaded every farm animal imaginable....

.....and Walt watched with excitement as his backyard was transformed into the sweetest barnyard that I've ever seen!

I couldn't help but to get emotional watching him, as he saw it all come to life.

A horse, two ponies, a baby cow, goat, chicks, rabbits, ducks, a rooster, pigs, a sheep, a donkey, a turkey....  it was quite magical for a farm loving little boy.

Walt and Juliet were able to enjoy some time with pony rides and inside the farm before the party began....

Juliet's favorite animal was the turkey.....  and Walt still insists that his were the ducks.

I could have stayed in these moments with them all day.

Walt's farm soon filled with everyone we love the most....

The littles went back and forth between petting the barnyard animals and pony rides...

....as did some of the adults : )

Both Grandmom and Cheryl rode as if they do it every weekend.

I on the other hand....yeah...not so much.

Speaking of Grandmom!  My guest would have starved if not for her.  She prepared a feast of barbecue and every southern farm side you can think of to accompany it.  Even her fruit display (that she made!?) had sunflowers on it to match the farm theme decor.

After farm animal fun and dinner, we sang Happy Birthday to our baby boy...

...it's always a sweet moment for me.

The children ended the party with farm animal cookies, running around the barns...

.....and sunset hay bale jumping!

I can't begin to tell you how full my heart felt at the end of the evening!  The excitement on Walt's face....watching all of the children enjoy the animals....  a beautiful summer evening with everyone I love...  it's a day I'll always remember.

Parties are a family affair for us, and wouldn't happen without the help from my parents.  They always spend party week helping us prepare.  Mom- thank you for taking care of our party guest so that we could stay in the moment with Walt....  I can't imagine all that you were doing while I was enjoying him.

Also, a big thank you to Countrytime Connections Petting Farm!  What a pleasure it was to have you and your farm babies for our special day!  We can't say enough good about our time with you.

And to Troy.....

....for making these memories happen for us.  You work hard to give us our heart's desires, giving us more joy and love than I will ever deserve.  What a beautiful day you provided for our Walter and entire family!

A few photos of the morning after party day, with so many generous gifts (and a backyard that smelled like the West Wing of the KY Fair and Expo Center during the state fair!)....

And that completes party weekend!

Thank you for reading!
