My Favorite First

I've loved documenting and photographing all of Walt's first.

I'll admit that some of them are silly.

Like his first time in the car seat...first time in the swing.... the bouncy seat, the pack n play, the activity mat, the bassinet, the crib..

.....you get the idea ;)

His first bottle at home...

His first sponge bath.....

His first "real" bath.....

....the first time he played in his room.....

and the first time we showed him Mickey...

His first doctor's appointment.....

His first vaccinations.....

The list of silly firsts goes on and on.

But he had other first that were a little more special.

Like (other than grandparents), his very first visitors....

Followed by many more......

His first party......

His first time to give Mommy flowers......

His first restaurant and trip to the mall.......

....and his first time to visit Daddy at work.

I loved watching Troy parade him around....

So many first!

I'd have to say that my very favorite first, were his smiles and the first few times he "talked."  I'll have to post those eventually.

But my next favorite first came at two weeks old.

It requires a bit of a back story.

Eric and Sarah were married shortly after Walt was born (two weeks old).  Troy and I were not ready to take Walt into a crowd of people yet.....  and I wasn't ready to leave him with a sitter.  We struggled all week with what to do.  Troy was a groomsmen in the wedding, and would obviously be there....  but how could I be a part of it, without having to leave Walt?  I didn't want to miss the wedding.

My mom ....who could totally understand my new mommy, hormonal heart....suggested something that will sound nuts to most people....  but it's exactly what I needed.  And she knew that.

She told me that Dad would take me to the wedding (she was out of town with work)...  and sit in the car....right outside the venue... with Walt.  That way, I wouldn't miss the wedding.... could see the ceremony.....  and still know that Walt was near.

And call us crazy....  but that's exactly what we did.

Dad was so good about it....  he told me to take my time, that he would be loving on his grandson right outside.  He told me to enjoy the wedding....not to worry....and that he would be sitting right there when I was ready to pop out and see Walt.

I would never have let my poor Dad sit in the car all night.....  but he totally would have.

I only stayed for the ceremony, and some pictures afterwards.....

and did go out to see Walt in between.  ;)

And now my favorite first...

Brian flew in from Montana to be in the wedding.  He had not met Walt, but knew that he was in the car with my Dad.  The wedding was due to start any minute, and it was all I could do to keep Brian from running out to see our baby boy.

The minute the ceremony ended, Troy took Brian out to meet his nephew.

I was not prepared for the emotions that would accompany this moment.

Brian....my strong,  tough, brilliant brother in law.....took one look at Walt.....and fell apart.

The first time that Walt met his Uncle Brian....will always be one of my favorite first.

So many more photos and first to upload!

Thank you for reading!

Love,

Kristin
