Chandler Reece

Remember these??

And I thought she was glowing then......

Chandler Reece was born May 22nd, weighing 8lbs, 11ounces!

He is perfect in every way...

.
...and Ann has to be one of the most beautiful Mothers I've ever seen.

I think the only thing sweeter than Chandler.....   is seeing these two with him....

I'm like a proud momma when it comes to my dearest friends, especially on days like this.  I brag on them often.  I want the world to know that they're mine.  I feel blessed to have them.

I'm proud to know them, and proud that they chose me to share in memories such as these.....

And honored......

....that I get to sit back and watch the most important moments of their lives unfold....

Ann,

I am overwhelmed with pride for you!  You've created the sweetest family and a beautiful life for your FOUR boys.  Thank you for letting me be a part of it!  I love you, and will forever be grateful for you!

Congratulations Alan, Ann, Cooper and Cameron.....

Chandler is perfect!

Love,

Kristin

Her

To thank her for all she does seems to everyday for me.......

because it's every day, that she's striving to make our world perfect.

So a thank you sounds too insignificant at this point.

To praise her sounds overwhelming.

Daily, I am told by others, of how blessed I am to have her.

There are many that sing her praises.

So that won't do.

To spoil her, to gift her and pamper her could possibly work.

But no monetary amount could ever measure up to how we feel.

So we just love her.

We cherish her and we adore her.

And we pray that not a single day goes by.....

that she doesn't feel our love for her.

And her.....

Really.....my every day...

is because of her.

Because of her.....   I will have a lifetime of happiness.

Because of her, I am loved beyond my wildest dreams..... by the man of my dreams.

And because of her love for me, I am turned off by the term, "mother-in-law."

Because she is so much more than that title could ever begin to describe.

I love you both beyond measure.

Happy Mother's Day.

Kristin

"Mother Like Mine"
She's the sky that holds the clouds
She's the lady of the house
A blind believer in all I dare to be
There's no safer place I've found
Than the shoulder of her white night gown
Oh I've got the best and the worst of her in me
I'd share her if I could

Oh the wars would all be over
'Cause she'd raise us all as friends
And no one would ever wonder if somebody wanted them
We'd walk on grass that's greener
And our cares would all be freer
If the world had a mother like mine

She's our father's one great love
She's the one he wanted most
She's the light in the window of the house I grew up in
She takes the midnight call
She's the bravest of us all
And she sings in the garden that she let's her hair down in

Oh the wars would all be over
'Cause she'd raise us all as friends
And no one would ever wonder if somebody wanted them
Tonight would be easier
And our dreams would all be deeper
If the world had a mother like mine

Don't go away
Don't go away from me
Oh I understand
She is a helping hand
But I have to say

She's the sky that holds the clouds
She's the lady of our house
We all need her
But no one more than me

Oh the wars would all be over
'Cause she'd raise us all as friends
And no one would ever wonder just how much she wanted them
We'd walk on grass that's greener
And the dishes would all be cleaner
If the world had a mother like mine

Oh like mine

Jackpot!

Another Derby has come and gone!

What a fun time to live in the Bluegrass state.

Does living here the week of Derby, make you Kentucky proud??  I know it does me.

I love everything about Derby week.  The races, parades, roses, and mint juleps. The hats, the bourbon, the bow ties and linen suits.  Every detail of Derby screams Kentucky, southern, and most of all...  tradition.

I love that, here in Louisville, we almost consider it a holiday week, and that everyone has their own special way of celebrating.

And the fact that this "holiday" brought a four day weekend with my husband, may just be my favorite part of the Run for the Roses!

A four day break to have lunch dates, movie nights, shopping, and staying up late ....

A few days to squeeze in Derby festivities....

(sewing together the blanket of roses)..

Derby baking.......

Derby pies are a must have for Derby week!

And Derby day wouldn't be complete without good friends, GREAT Derby parties...

and a chunky set of pearls.

:)

We crashed the Hammond Derby party for a visit.  I wish I would have taken more pictures (I didn't even get Jen- and she hosted!?), but I was too distracted by the sweet babies.... and possibly the dessert buffet that stretched the length of the bar.  The Hammond family know the Derby, and how to play the game.  There were official programs, lap tops, two different tables of papers and betting notes......

and Troy and I were all like ..  "we like purple...   we'll take the purple horse."

;)

The kids were even selling chances to win Derby pins.

Too funny.

If I ever decide to do a big time Derby party....  the Hammonds/Roseberrys are in charge of all things betting and strategy.

And that Oreo dessert thing-y.

Penny and Erin make their first Derby debut....

Go Babies, Go! :)

We spent the rest of Derby day with the Goodins.  Sam and Jason hosted the perfect southern Derby party.... complete with barbecue, all the appropriate sides, sweet tea, and a covered back porch swing.

Swear.

It was as though it was designed just for me.

(Pinterest house Derby party)  :)

Abby and Olivia kept us entertained.

Call to the post!

Swinging under the covered back porch that rainy evening....   enjoying dinner....the best of friends, (and a jackpot of course!)

..made for the perfect Derby day.

We ended Derby weekend with Sunday lunch with the grandparents...

and our four day Derby weekend came to an end.

We did not have the winning Derby horse this year, though we came close.  Golden Soul (my official Derby bet) led the way for most of the race....and for a moment.....I just knew I would hit big.  Yes.....we were getting ready to strike gold Troy and I....   oh the plans I was quickly making for our life changing win.... we were a furlong away from being gazillionaires...

on my $2 bet.

;)

Ha!

The excitement of the race causes me to temporarily forget that I do not own the horse,  have nothing invested into the horse, and will probably win only enough to pay for dinner that night.

I apologize to anyone around me if I grabbed, squeezed or dug my nails into your leg (sorry Angie), as my horse neared the finish line.

I would be kicked out of Millionaire's Row after the first race, I know.

So that was our Derby.....   and the way we celebrated Louisville's very own holiday.

Though we may not have had the right pick, the winning horse, or the super trifecta....

in my opinion,

I think we still struck gold ...

Have a wonderful week!

Love,

Kristin
