Christmas Eve

Can you feel it?  It's here.

It arrives every year around this time, and it's so beautiful to me.

I heard it in a conversation with the cashier attendant yesterday.  She appeared tired, yet kind and grateful.  I sensed that she could feel it too.  I could feel it in the car as we looked at lights last night... and in our home as we decorated cookies, my husband singing "it's Christmas time in the city..." (on repeat, all day)...   and as we read the story of the first Christmas.

A room illuminated only by a twinkling tree, a fire burning, the smell of cinnamon, and babies bouncing with anticipation.  I see it all around me.

And I feel it in me.  It's real.  He's real.

So real.

The spirit of Christmas is here.

I planned to share our card photo to wish you a Merry Christmas this evening.  I love Christmas cards.  I wait each day for them, hoping to see a mailbox full.  If you sent us one, I assure you it made my day.  And our card is sweet.  Chubby toddler hands dangling a wooden Merry Christmas sign.... knee socks and matching plaid....  Walt's tilted little head...  it's all irresistible to me.

But a card that I received yesterday, gave me all the feels.  My prayer is that it gives you the same.

Can you believe the power of this gift?  An everlasting, world saving....eternity promising, perfect gift.  A gift that returns.....and comes with more anticipation and glory than my mind can grasp.

It's what that feeling is, tonight.  And my how precious it feels.

Merry Christmas from our family to yours.  We'll post our card eventually.... but tonight, this one seems much more special.  We pray you too feel His spirit on this holy night.

And thank you to Susan and John Thompson for the beautiful card.

So much better than matching plaid.

Turkey Weekend 2017

I spent 26 years watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade while smelling my mom's turkey baking in the oven.  To this day, I still miss waking up to that smell on turkey day!

But I have to admit that this new version of Thanksgiving morning is awfully sweet....

.....and we do watch the parade ; )

My favorite part of this holiday is no longer that smell of the turkey baking, but the fact that we can walk to Thanksgiving dinner at my parents' home.  We sang "over the river and through the woods, to Grandmom's  (and Grandad's!) house we go....."  and talked about what we were most thankful for.  This short turkey walk may have to be a tradition!

A couple of days later, Aunt Sarah and Uncle Eric hosted the Davis Thanksgiving....

A wonderful time, as always....

We saw "The Star," on Thanksgiving weekend.  Such a sweet little movie.  Grab your tissues for that final manger scene!

We spent the rest of the weekend finishing up our decorating.....

I love Thanksgiving weekend!!!

Farewell to Fall

Twinkling lights and stockings hanging....  and yet, here I am posting pumpkin pictures.

A random hodgepodge of photos to finish up fall blogging!

MiMi flew in for an early fall visit.  Sweet time with her....

Some every day life phone photos....

A birthday for our Penny Lu....

Play time with friends....

Sweet pumpkin babies.....

Fall zoo trips are my favorite....

Pumpkin shaped pizzas, reading Halloween books on the front porch at dark.... The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, carving pumpkins ....all the little, but somehow big things....

A few images from the Halloween party at the club...

And a fun Halloween night with Grandmom and Grandad...

We said farewell to fall at the zoo with Katherine and Claire.  The pumpkin smash event for the animals was fun to see...

Ending with my favorite day this fall....even more special than a pumpkin patch for me.

Uncle Matt's work picnic, where he made my babies feel like honorary guest....

We love you Uncle Matt and will always remember this afternoon with you.

Turkey day up next!
