Troy and I have had some pretty memorable Valentine's Days in years past.
But I think this year may be my favorite yet. It was such a sweet week to me.
But I think this year may be my favorite yet. It was such a sweet week to me.
I took Walt on a couple of Valentine's dates that week, just the two of us.
We took a road trip to Brenham, TX to visit the Blue Bell Ice Cream Factory.
Texans are very proud of their Blue Bell!
The grounds were beautiful, and the cute ice cream parlor was the perfect setting for a Valentine date!
After ice cream, we visited the quaint town of Brenham and did a bit of antique browsing.
Walt fell asleep on the drive back to Houston. When I went to get him, he was still holding his little souvenir spoon from the gift shop. Bless his sweet heart.
On one of our other dates that week, we checked out a new play center, went for burgers and shakes (a Valentine treat!) for lunch, and then to the park.
Walt sat in the booth next to me (versus a high chair), which he thought was big time.
We shared our first milk shake together.....
....which officially made this my favorite Valentine's week of all time.
I know that I can't be his Valentine forever..... but I'm already praying hard, that whoever she is, will one day love him as much as I do.
Valentine week wasn't all about Walt and I. Daddy got to join in the fun too. That weekend, we took Walt to Sesame Street Live!
Sometimes I think my heart will burst from the sweetness....
Walt was once again mesmerized by the show. He never moved a muscle.
We woke up to a few sweet treats on Valentine's Day ....
...and ended the week with a final surprise.
If you know anything at all about our Walt, you know that the true love of his life is Curious George. I always assumed that my son would lug around a Mickey.... or a some other beloved Disney character.
But he loves George. With all his heart.
Grandmom and Grandad got him George for his first Christmas, which makes it special.
Walt goes no where and does nothing, without him.
Not only does he sleep with him... but most of the time, I go into his room to find him sound asleep and snuggling him. It's so precious to me.
So when I got an email from the Houston Children's Museum saying that Curious George would be there on Valentine's Day, I knew it was a must do.
Walt loved watching George on stage. I think he would have sat there all day..
And he was so cute while standing in line, waiting to see him... he kept pointing and wanting to go..
....his own little Curious George in hand.
But the closer he got, the more he froze. He wouldn't let Troy let go of his hand.
He was starstruck! ;)
After seeing George, we played in the museum...
(my husband melts my heart)..
....and one of the sweetest weeks came to an end.
Walt,
I loved our Valentine week together, and are cherishing every second with you. As excited as I am to have your new sister in my arms.... I am sad thinking that our time together... just you and I... is coming to a close. You will never know what our time together, just the two of us, has meant to me. Every morning snuggle, every play time.... every story book, every walk in the park... every second of my every day, has been about you.
Our time together now feels sweeter than ever. As we walked through the zoo last week, I tried to soak in and remember every second of it. As we stood and talked about the elephants, your hand in mine, I wished I could freeze time for just a little bit. Because I've loved our time, just the two of us, so much. And as we swung together on the park swing yesterday, I fought bittersweet tears. Because these times with you, have been the sweetest of my life.
And as you crawled up into my lap for story time last night, I felt a lump in my throat.
Very soon, we will only add to this great love. Your sister will bring more joy, more excitement, more to cherish and love.
But for now, I am holding you extra tight..... thanking God for this special time that we've had together...
just you and me.
I love you more than you'll ever know.
Mommy
