This post is two months behind, but better late than never I guess!
I love the Fourth of July. I love everything about the way America celebrates its birthday. I love the gatherings, the fireworks, the food...
and the patriotic clothing.
Oh how I love patriotic clothing.

The festival kicked off with a parade, where all of the floats tossed candy and treats into the crowd...
On the way home from the festival, we stopped at several places to buy a few small fireworks for Walt. However, we couldn't find the first sparkler!? As it turns out, fireworks for personal use are not allowed in the city of Houston. Not even a box of Pop-Its : (
So we spent the evening pool side with a Popsicle and a swim...
We sure missed our family and friends this year. We normally spend the Fourth of July hosting a big barbecue for everyone. I look forward to the day when we can resume the tradition.
This year, we attended a neighborhood festival near us. Houston is such a big city (the fourth largest in the US, only behind New York, Los Angeles & Chicago!), but this particular festival felt very small town to me. I enjoyed the quaint simple atmosphere.

After the parade, everyone gathered in the town square, where there was a festival around the park...
They had live music, rides, a petting zoo, and all of the favorite summer foods...

To all of you who are normally with us on the 4th... it wasn't the same without you.
